In January of 1870, the mint’s first Superintendent, Abe Curry opened the new Carson City Mint building to the public for the first time. Come celebrate this historic anniversary and meet Abe Curry and his daughter, Elvira Curry Cowen, who both figured prominently in the Mint’s history. At 1 PM, Curry portrayers Dave and Kathy Pierson, will honor the occasion by serving cake to all visitors, then conduct a forum with Curry family descendants to learn about the family’s history.

Tours of the Mint building at 10 AM and Noon, and demonstrations of Coin Press No. 1 from 10 AM to 3 PM.
